BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Buffalo firefighters saved two families after flames from a burning car spread to both their homes.

It happened around 4 A.M. on Davidson Avenue on the City's east side.

Investigators think a mechanical issue may have caused the car to catch fire and it quickly spread to both the homes it was parked in between.

Buffalo Fire Chief John Mogavero said, "We had a lot of things going. We had a car fire, we had sides of buildings going, and we had the insides burning. Both were large buildngs, we were trying to cover both of those with the man power we had. We were scrambling for a short time but we covered everything and knocked the fire down. Everybody got out safely."

Paramedics treated one person for minor injuries at the scene.

Both homes endured $100,000 damage each.

The car has up to $10,000 in damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
