BUFFALO, N.Y. - An overnight fire lands two of Buffalo's bravest in the hospital.

When fire officials first got to the scene on South Park Avenue they said, flames were reaching across the street.

Neighbors told News 4, they saw flames climbing up a tree.

What suffered the most damage was a car.

The car's owner James Thompsend told News 4 he just put a new sound system in his car, that is now completely destroyed.

"There was fire half way across the street," Michael Lombardo, Buffalo Fire Battalion Chief.

Fire officials say the call came in just after 2 a.m. Monday.

"We had a three-car garage, about 30 by 30, fully evolved on arrival, so this vehicle was burnt," Lombardo explained.

Jamie Harrier is friends with the James. He lives right across the street.

Jamie said, "I tried to come put the fire out, and get the car away. I kinda got a little bit too close."

No one was seriously injured, but two firefighters were taken to ECMC after hurting their backs.

Officials tell News 4 there is $20,000 worth of damage to the property.

"I'm in shock, I mean my car is gone, nothing. I'm going to have to go buy a new car, I don't have a job. My garage is gone, thank God our house didn't burn down," said James.

Right now, the fire is under investigation.
