i actually put out my first fire nun big but a brush fire i was hapy....start fire/ems acadamy the 19th any recomendations or suggestions about academy
Listen to the veterans and give them respect. It may suck because they're going to be on you and driving you, but give them respect. In my nearly 20 year volunteer career I've noticed this change from respect and admiration to "Who do you think you are?"
And yes, congrats on the brush fire. You'll almost always remember your first this-or-that experience.
Congratulations! As for the academy, like everyone else said already, keep your mouth shut, ears open, do what you're told with everything you've got, keep a positive attitude, bust your tail all the time, and most of all, have a blast!!!
Congrats on the first fire, and best of luck with the academy! During my probie time back in 1994, I learned a ton just by asking questions and listening to the "veteran" firefighters. Stay safe Brother!
