NEW YORK (AP) -- A Bronx jury has reached a verdict in the trial of two tenants of an apartment building where a 2005 blaze forced two firefighters to leap to their deaths.

State Supreme Court Justice Margaret Clancy said she would wait to unseal the verdict until Friday because a second jury is still deliberating similar charges against the building's manager and its corporate owner.

Prosecutor Jeffrey Glucksman and two defense attorneys said they objected to the sealing of the verdict.

Tenants Caridad Coste and Rafael Castillo are accused of illegally subdividing their fourth-floor apartments to form bedrooms for renters.

Prosecutors say the subdivided rooms trapped six firefighters battling the fire on Jan. 23, 2005, forcing them to jump from windows.

Lt. Curtis Meyran and firefighters John Bellew died, but four survived.

Didn't one of the lawyers of one of these two cases try mocking the firefighters, and saying it was their own fault?
Thats sick maybe he should be put in the same situation and asked what he would do then.
