Bleachers burned at Ashland football stadium

The Ashland School District plans to have 24-hour security guards on campus for the next few days following a suspicious fire that destroyed bleachers at the high school football stadium.

Ashland Fire & Rescue responded to the blaze late Wednesday and found 7-foot flames shooting from the north end of the bleachers.

Fire marshal Margueritte Hickman said a sprinkler system likely saved the structure from complete destruction.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but police say it was probably an arson.
