VONORE, Tenn. - A mobile home explosion in East Tennessee has sent a bedridden man to a burn center in Nashville.

The Knoxville News Sentinel reports Ford Henderson was burned in the blast before dawn Tuesday in Vonore.

Vonore Fire Chief Steve Wheeler said Henderson - who is in his 70s - suffered serious burns to his lower body.

The chief said Henderson lives with a young couple who are related to him. Henderson uses oxygen for medical reasons.

The younger man got his wife and their 20-month-old son out of the doublewide mobile home and then went back to rescue Henderson.

Wheeler said as the man pulled Henderson out of the home, it blew up. The younger man wasn't hurt.

Henderson was flown to Vanderbilt University Hospital.

The cause of the explosion wasn't immediately known.
