KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Knoxville fire officials say a blaze at a gay nightclub was intentionally set.
Assistant Fire Chief Danny Beeler told The Knoxville News Sentinel investigators have determined the incident Sunday morning at Club XYZ was "a set fire" for which no motive has been established.
Flames didn't get into the club, but began on a wooden deck outside it and burned an overhead awning, melting ceiling fans. It also spread to an adjacent building, where an awning was burned.
Knoxville Fire Department spokesman Capt. D.J. Corcoran says samples from the fire have been sent to the TBI after an arson dog hit on some type of accelerant.
