TUCSON, Ariz. - A volunteer firefighter has been hurt while battling a wildfire near Sonoita.
Bureau of Land Management spokeswoman Diane Drobka says the volunteer was taken to a hospital in Tucson Wednesday evening. The Arizona Daily Star reports that the extent of the injury was unclear but the firefighter was conscious.
The fire near the Las Cienegas National Conservation Area burned on both sides of Arizona 83 and had consumed at least 600 acres by late Wednesday.
BLM and Coronado National Forest firefighters were assisted by volunteers from Corona de Tucson, Sonoita and Patagonia.
