This is from another website, sorry it is not in full length WebChief's rules. I took out just one excerpt of the story to make a point... recently in one of the posts here people were saying that Chief's have no backbone or support their men. Read the reason the last Chief resigned.

City of St. Joseph's, Michigan

"We tried to combine the police and fire chief position, our first move, but there didn't seem to be cooperation. It wasn't there for a police chief to be successful so then we went to a police sergeant and he was experienced, he was actually a firefighter, and I don't think he received cooperation," says St. Joseph City Manager Frank Walsh.

The chief that quit recently told the city manager he wasn't happy with a couple of things.

He didn't like a new policy that doesn't allow firefighters to take the fire truck to the grocery store.

Plus he didn't want the department to help out with a new water rescue team.
