Albuquerque Firefighters Injured After Falling Through Roof During Apartment Fire

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Two firefighters have been released from an Albuquerque hospital after being slightly injured while fighting a three-alarm fire at a city apartment complex.

Albuquerque Fire Department officials say 75 firefighters battled the blaze Friday afternoon at the Royal Crown apartments on Gibson near San Mateo. Authorities say all residents in the 47-unit complex were able to evacuate safely.

Four firefighters fell from the second story of the building to the first story while fighting the fire. Two of the four were taken to a hospital with injuries to their right knees. A fire department spokeswoman says the two firefighters were treated and released at UNM hospital and doing fine.

Twenty-one residents from the apartments were taken to a Red Cross shelter set up at Highland High School.
