JENNER, Alta. — A fire has caused heavy damage to a hotel in a small southern Alberta community.

Emergency crews from several area fire departments are battling flames at the scene in Jenner, about 250 kilometres east of Calgary.

Dennis Mann, fire chief for Cypress County, says crews are having a tough time battling the blaze that broke out overnight.

Mann says about half of the building has burned to the ground.

He says the hotel portion of the structure remains standing.

No injuries have been reported.
