HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Emergency officials say a 76-year-old man suffered severe burns in a home explosion in Huntsville.

Don Webster, chief operating officer for Huntsville Emergency Medical Services, Inc., tells The Huntsville Times Donald Page was injured in the explosion in his garage around 7 a.m. Thursday. Webster says Page suffered external burns to his face and torso as well as internal burns.

Emergency officials say Page was smoking a cigarette while using an oxygen tank when the explosion happened.

He was taken to Huntsville Hospital's trauma services and was expected to be moved to the burn center of the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
