i want to know how your dept or county runs their accountability systems or how do you go about keeping track of it ?

We also run a passport system which keep two velcro namez on our helmets for working fires we each put one on a engine passport which is then sent to the safety officer or resource who places each passport on to a board and every 15 minutes they order a par lunar. And thats how we do it.

Electronic devices like the GEM and Scott's Pack Tracker are an attempt to be an accountability system, a PASS, and an electronic recall system, all at the same time.

 

They have some inherent problems, especially with signal attenuation in large structures.  This can keep them from working properly.  Like any electronic device, they can fail.

 

The best accountability systems are simple, organized, and work when the electricity doesn't.
