does it count if half of us are rednecks and own 4 wheelers and trailers? Most S&R are done with 4 wheelers and the new GPS which dial us into the last known coordinates. Did you know that the gov't has a new method to track people? The "easy pay" on your debit and credit cards is a radio signal and can be traced. Things that make you go hmmm.
HATE TO TELL YOU BUT ALSO WE LIVE IN A SMALL TOWN AND WELL YOU ARE NO ONE IF YOU DON'T OWN ONE.. WHEN THE SIREN BLOWS ESP FOR GRASS FIRE.. OUT THEY COME.... VERY GOOD FOR LOOKING FOR PEOPLE OR DRIVING PEOPLE IN TO DEEP FIELD FOR GRASS FIRES...
All I stated is most of the members have their own 4 wheelers, the department has none. The S&R is done in 100% cooridination with other local emergency services and safety is measured and exercised to the fullest. I did say redneck pertaining to the fact so many have 4 wheelers, not in the method of operations.
It is a coordinated, safe and meaningful S&R each time we have one.
REALLY WELL THANK TO JIMBOB AND BILLYJOE.. 6 MORE FIREMEN GOT TO HELP ON SCENE.. REALLY YOU NEED TO BE PROFESSIONALLY TRAINED ON ATV'S.. MUST BE SOMEKIND OF SPECIAL NEED BY YOU PEOPLE.. BECAUSE I THINK ANY MONKEY CAN DRIVE ONE.. JUST GOES TO PROVE EDUCATION OVER COMMON SENCE MAKES YOU A DUMB ASS.
no atv school here for firemen to be honest some depts just started recieving grants to buy them for grass fire seasons.. So it's what it is for now.. I'm sure as Atv's become used more and more fire grants are given to buy them, that a school will eventually be taught ..For insurance reasons... Till then

we do not have an atv because we dont cover a lot of woody area but we've got 2 departments that butt up to use that do, so if we feel we might need them we call them out for mutial aid, the one department has an atv and snowmobile and a sled that they convert over from winter to summer, it's been used a lot:)
