fire science degree
this is for anyone who has or is getting there fire science degree. i'm in my second(and hopefully last) year. so far i'm doing wonderful with all the fire classes, the only thing slowing me down is the maths and sciences and englishes. however, i'm going to be taking my first fire/math course tonight and i'm a little nervous. b/c even though it does pertain to firefighting...it's math. it's hydraulic technology...any advice, i heard it's reallly hard!

Dont worry about it. I'm going for the same degree and haven't taken the math class yet either. The bad news.....yess it's math, the good news is they relate it to hydralics and pressures and everything else. You might not even think it's a math class after a while. I'm trying to avoid it as much as possible, but its something we all have to take. I'm actually taking it next semester, so let me know how it goes.

Nice to meet you. I am working on getting my fire science degree also. I am taking Fire Service Hydraulics right now too. Cool! Well good luck to you, I am almost there too just have 5 more classes to go for it.

just found out tonight, all our tests will be open note...which means no memorizing formulas!!!!!!!!!!!!

I found out from the local community collage that I can convert my Fire Service certifications to college credits and I might need just an english class for an associates degree. I just might do it.

maybe this will boost your spirits some. when i went to take the entrance exam in 1980 i went back to my jr. high math teacher to learn how all this worked and now i have people tell me that its me that knows friction loss better than anyone around here. imagine that, and i don't like math. in school they tried to teach formula and not a practical application, i found it quite easy once you have an application and than you add a formula to figure. it was real scary at first but know its a walk in the park. best of luck, oh by the way LUCK is when opportunity and preperation meet. prepare thy mind
