ppe or equipment

We had just considered going after a regional grant for air packs for the county . Until we where told we could not do that because air packs are ppe . Ppe like turnouts , helmets and gloves used by only you or basic fire equipment like nozzles , pry bars or ladders used by everybody . What is some of your opinions

SCBA are listed as PPE for our protocols, they wont put out fire or make a vent hole but they sure do protect your lungs from the smelly stuff

We just had five department chiefs resign their positions in protest to a decision by the commissioner to accept bids for air packs that are non-compliant.
