What are your policies regarding training?(in house or other wise)
Do you give on going training on the sqd level, or do you just relay on your EMT getting their C.E.U. on their own? Also would you attend some training in house if it did not include C.E.U.? Do you require your volunteers to get any in house training, say if they have not been on any runs in the last six months or so?
We do an In Service program as each member is requred to be in training 4 hrs a month and depending on there Cert level they have a certain hours CEU's also that they acrew elsewhere.
O.K. so tell me, what size crew do you run with?
What do you do with the volunteer who don't show up for in house training? And would you feel comfortable riding withone who has not used their skills in over six months? I understand that with family, work and everything else there is sometimes notime for training, but ?
We have mandatory inservices every month that you must attend on your day off- blue shift attends one day and green and red the day prior. We hold a refresher once a year in Jan. The first part is basic where basics, intermediates, and medics attend then intermediate for Is and Ps then paramedic for Ps and you get a refresher certificate. We are constantly adding new toys so we constantly have training going on. We also all had to have ICS 100/200/700/800 by jan of this yr.
