We seem to like them Great secondary alerting tool and great for Drlls and etc. Don't have to tie up the air for BS

They are ok, the delay on them are bad, and no one sets them off at night (at least not scrantons) but i do admit for drivers, they now don't have to tie up the air to get the house numbers anymore. i was talking with one of our members who is a dispatcher, and he said the reason for the delay is that they have to type all the info right now. ec hasn't sent them the software yet. so in everyones defence, it new, and be patient with them.

Cheektowaga and Amherst have been doing that for the last 11 years.

Thats how they get around using the "air raid" siren. Not to mention...... None of the ff i know are out in the fields plowing and planting. These sirens should be for civil disaster ONLY!!!!

They are great for those dead spots. Inside Walmart, the mall etc. Also got one other day with the times on it. Thats pretty cool so we dont have to call dispatch when its busy. TO bad they couldnt just send it to the crew that responded though.

i like it as a back up WHEN THE DISPATCHER PAGES OUT THE CALLS PROPERLY
some times we dont get calls on the alphas the dispatcher is too busy handling the police and fire radios to remember
to type the calls in for the pagers and then click the right button, i turned my alerts off and rely solely on my minitor 2
so when a call comes in i could miss it, and then theres pages going out for every EMS call which are none of my business except for a good laugh. at the dispatchers expense.

no offense to those of you who are dispatchers but TPD has had 17 yrs to get it together for central dispatch and to train every new dispatcher properly
