I'm thinking about moving to the Columbia, South Carolina area. I was wondering how hard it is to find a job at a career department out there. I've been on the job now for 4 years at a career department in the Kansas City Missouri area, it's very competitive here. I'm a nationally registered Emt-B, with FF I and II, Haz-mat awarness and ops. I also have officer I, Investigator, and Instructor, as well as the MCTO and Leadership series. Thanks for your input, everyone stay safe.

We switch stations every month unfortunately.. but that is coming to a stop soon. When I am at one, like next month, yes, I am on the rescue. I am hoping to get on it permanently, we will see what happens in the next month.
I was lured down here by jobs, and the ocean.
I'm an old rescue/truck guy myself, and some days I really miss it.
Remember, Mick and I are just a short drive down Highway 17 from you guys.
Come see us when you and Brent get the chance.

We're in the process of putting our ten new engines in service.
The LED RotoRays ROCK!
Every now and then Brent teaches a class down there.. so you never know.
Love the rescue. More variety than hose humping.

We just got three new engines, a new quint, a new rescue, and two chief mobiles.. and i thought we were cool.

Ten engines...
you guys suck.
I'll get a photo of one with the LED RotoRay in action.

I generally don't get too pumped up about apparatus (except for a really cool rescue, maybe) as they're just a taxi to get us to work, but our new engines actually have gotten me pretty jacked up.

They have Class A and Class B foam, onboard hydraulic generators, and some other goodies that are new to us. We have the new Ethanol-resistant Class B foam (1%-3%) and 0.5%-1% Class A. The new engines (Crimson Fire bodies, single-stage Watrous 1500 GPM pumps, Spartan MetroStar chassis) can pump 1,000 GPM of foam. We chose this over CAFS, because of the awesome volume of foam they can throw.

I prefer tools over hose-dragging myself, ditto on the variety.
