Hey I was wondering if any of you guys/gals could help me. Right now I'm a volly in upstate NY and just getting out of high school. Im looking to making firefighting my future career and aside from taking courses down at our local training center I've decided getting a degree in fire science will help me alot in getting chosen for a "big city" FD. Does anyone know or can recommend any colleges (on the north east coast preferably) that have programs/classes and give degrees in fire sciences? Also if anyone else can give suggestions on how to begin/aquire a job in paid firefighting im open to all suggestions, Thanks alot.

Being a forestry student myself, I couldn't tell you a lot about urban fire or how to get training there. However, Humboldt State University has a fire science program in their forestry department that is pretty awesome. It's on the west coast, but a little stepping out of your comfort zone doesn't hurt anyone. May not be what you're after, but it's what I've got. :)
nah im kinda looking more towards structural or aircraft firefighting thanks thoug ill keep it in mind
