I still don't get it .. Fireman who run on scene of fires.. Whats up with that???? Went to house fire and to be honest it was a surrend and drowned situation.. This fireman from another dept wwas on a dead run to get what a pick hole ..lol Chief had to go His chief and tell him to tell him to slow down.. To say the least His chief felt insulted that Our chief even thought about telling him to slow down,,, What the heck.. He falls he is under our insurance because of mutual aid... Any ideas???
First off, if the firefighter falls, he is on his own insurance from his own fire department. Just because you called mutual aid doesn't entail bringing them under your insurance. Second off, running is something that needs to be looked at all the time. I myself find myself walking briskly towards the engine to grab a pack, and get to work. Adreneline, and a need for action dictate tyhe tempo for most "runners." Keeping the scene safe is always a priority. The scene safety officer and or IC should have simply asked the firefighter to stop running. If this person refused or shot off at the mouth, than you have a need to go further in action towards their chief.
Sometimes running is needed. If it was your house on fire maybe you would feel different. By the way, I read your profile comments about the problems facing the fire service. YOU ACTUALLY SAID TOO MUCH TRAINING!!!! That is the most ignorant statement I've seen in a while. If you can't find the time to train, maybe you should stick with another job.
Yea Barbara on a dead run even with the turnout gear,, Hard to tell what he did right he was flat on his face.. Lucky if this was his only one fire he ran on,because the sec time he could had hurt himself worse....But I will try to look at the bighter side next time...
I think there is a difference between running and moving with a purpose. I don't run but I move with a purpose becuase we have a job that needs to get done. Running is foolish and usually leads to recklessness.
Its not worth running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Firefighters who do that have the potential to make matters worse, unless its a life or death situation then I say hurry it up a little bit, but in a case where no life is in danger just take ur time we dont need anyone hurt or killed.
