Does anyone use the 24 hour hour shift?
Has anyone switched from the 2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off to the 24 hour shift?
What are your opinions pro and con?

We work 24 on and 48 off, 1 kelly day per month. I love it.
We work the 24/48 and love it. Our EMS crew tends to get shafted sometime, going to the hospital and back takes 2 plus hours and the engine crew is in bed in 30 mins. If we do catch an extremly busy shift, I will swapp my medic and engine crew out so the medic crew can get a little rest. I know in some house this would cause an uproar, but my guys understand the reasoning and the danger of sleep deprivation. The town next to us does 48/96 and swears by it. They say it gives three days to work part time and a day to rest, before coming back to work. Although with a busy schedule, I could some drawbacks with that schedule. Thats my .02
24 on 24 off 24 on 5 days off.
24 on 24 off for a series of 4 shifts. Then 4 days off. Another series and 6 days off. Love it. You get a week long vacation once a month. It is hard though if your working a busy station. But even here with 3000 calls/year, still 90% are daytime runs. You are only allowed to work 72 straight.
