I have been given so much grief because I am trained in Wildland fire....I really get tired of hearing "Brush fires, there to much work"! Let me makes this simple for ya! If you didnt drag out so much freakin hose...It wouldnt be so hard....Use little water and lots of dirt!!! If the methods I was taught where used it wouldn' be so hard....Would actually be alot of fun....Wildland Firefighters are more unit cohesive than structural firefighter in my opinion...I can get on a fire and meet lots of new people...Get around another engine company and the BS starts flyin!!! I dont need that crap and I hate being round it...

Wildland Fire is my specialty. Along with Heavy rescue, it is what I enjoy...No one wants to fight a brush fire ok...Get the hell out of my way...I'll do it and love every minute of it...So whoever out there gives anyone crap for being a wildland FF, remember we do it cause we love it....So give us a break for once and NOT give us crap.

Hey Darian, I too am a wildland firefighter but around here, dealing with wildfires is just part of the job. I can't think of any firefighters who don't like the work because it usually means that you are on duty for up to 14 days when going on Strike Team assignments.

Considering that you are a wildland guy, please check out a new post I put up today that focuses on accessing water supplies when using a Type III. I'd like to get some feedback if I'm putting this stuff in the right place or whether I should simply post it as a blog under my page. Your thoughts?

Stay safe brother, wildland rocks!

Mike from Santa Barbara

Darian good question, around here we get a lot of wildland fires so if they did not like them fine, but you better run the trucks then, if not.............you wont be on the department long, we except no negative talk like that:)
the dept im on brush-wildland fires and car wrecks is bout all we have--the other guys grab a hose and im like yea whatever my first piece i grab off brush truck is a flapper. and than maybe an indian pack.our last call was for a 20 acre field fire and bout four dept. responded.
When i get the chance to look at your stuff I will....Stay safe out there...Darian
Give me a combi tool and I am in heaven.....I dont need water....I use dirt....Thats all we got if there is no water....My engine here where I am is really crazy sometimes.....The chiefs are screamin for more water....more brush trucks and its only and acre....We put down sometimes 1000 ft of hose in all sizes to fight a brush fire....I'm like dammit we gotta pick that up later....My thinkin "guys just grabs some tools and lets knock this F**ker down....But that is just me thinkin in my wildland tactical mode....
