I'm looking for someone who would volunteer to donate some time in helping me build a website for my Fire Dept. I know a little bit about web-design but not enough to do something like this. I need alot of help. Can someone help me out?
First do you have template picked out? The you will need a ftp program to uplaod to the web. Do you have a host for your site and has your department name been registered? There are alot of questions that need to answered before you can upload it. But i'm down the road from you in Kinston. As far as building them theres nothing to it. Have built several and that is what i do for a hobby.
i am computer illiterate but i went to freewebs.com and built a web site for my department nothing fancy but it lets you make profiles, upload pictures, and has a guest book among other things you can add. it also gives you step by step instructions on putting it together.
Google apps is also incredibly easy to use. I made my dept website by hand, but I made our county association website with Google (www.icffa.org). If you need anything specific I'll do what I can to help.
I would like to see if the template you use would possibly work for my department. Our city has small industrial, comercial, hotels, nursing homes, hospital and an old town square that has connecting building
I also do websites for fire depts/hazmat teams as a hobby - my advice would be to check out Microsoft Office Live which is obviously through Microsoft - not only do they host your site for free - your domain name is also free and there is no advertising on the site - they have templates you can choose from, and you can upload info, photos etc. It's so easy a caveman could do it!
