Just a nice item for all Fire Stations here in New York State.....The State has set up a scholorship program for Vol Firefighters here in New York....Basically it states that Each Fire Station (Department) may sponsor one firefighter to attend a State College/University tuition free as long as they maintain active status..initially it had to be within a 50 mile radius of the Firehouse But that stipulation was recently dropped...Hope this helps some of our Brothers/Sisters....Stay safe all........Paul

Erika....you would have to go through FASNY to get the information...Originally it came out about a year ago....I believe it is still in effect....BUT you have to be an ACTIVE member of a FireDepartment to be eligible....Good Luck little Sister...Stay safe and always keep the faith.........Paul
Have you read the qualifications? If you are over 23 then you must have been a member of the fire dept for LESS THAN 6 MONTHS. What about the rest of us who have been members of fire depts for years? Sounds like a great way to get your education paid for then ditch the fire service when you're all done.
