Happens about every summer here in New York as well.......Upstate New York that is....There tends to be so many grass/brush fires that the local departments get worn-out fighting them....Paul
VA has a seasonal ban each spring. State/local gov will issue a ban whenever they feel the need.
We end up with a burn ban every spring. It must be realy dry there. Rarely do we see summer burn bans but last summer we had one. It was so dry here in northern Wisconsin they even ban smoking outside and in your car.
E.P.A. put us on the burn ban form May to October. They say that it hurts the ozone layer. The summer months is when it is at the most damaging time.
I live in DuPage County, Illinois. We've had a burn ban for at least a decade. You can't burn without a permit. On the flip side, in Kane County (the next county to the west) you can burn whenever you want. In the fall everybody is burning leaves over there!
