A Henderson fire official says an unattended candle is believed to have sparked a two-alarm blaze that badly damaged a southern Nevada apartment building.

Deputy Henderson Fire Chief Steve Goble says no one was hurt, but flames from the 7:45 a.m. Monday fire burned through the roof and left a 16-unit apartment building uninhabitable.

Goble says about 60 Henderson and Clark County firefighters battled the fire at the complex on Warm Springs Road near Green Valley Parkway.

A damage estimate wasn't immediately available.

The fire official says the American Red Cross Nevada Chapter and apartment managers were helping affected residents.
