Keeping this post simple, there are ten rules that ALL firefighters must accomplish and follow in order to ensure success in whatever endeavor they are trying to pursue, and many times this includes promotions.

What is a given here is that by the time one reaches age 40, they must have a thorough understanding of these rules. Take a look at folks you admire and look up too... I bet they follow these rules!

1.   Do your homework.
2.   Develop your own style.
3.   Put your emotional life in order.
4.   Know your weaknesses.
5.   Know your strengths.
6.   Put away your "I quit money".
7.   Build a network.
8.   Learn to delegate.
9.   Keep your mouth shut.
10. Do not worship false gods.

"If one advances confidently in the direction of their dreams and endeavors to live a life in which he has imagines will meet with a success uncommon among men."
