A Practical Seminar for Chaplains & Clergy
Pastoral Crisis Intervention combines the traditional techniques of crisis intervention with the faith-based resources which chaplains and clergy of all faiths can offer to first responders and victims of traumatic events.
The class consists of two days of instruction, Monday and Tuesday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It covers –
• The Nature of human crisis
• The “crisis of faith”
• The Nature of crisis intervention
• Criteria for psychological triage
• A brief look at Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM)
• Common PCI mistakes
• Signs and symptoms of the crisis state
• Challenging PCIs
Completion of “Pastoral Crisis Intervention 1” and receipt of a certificate indicating full attendance (13 Contact Hours) qualifies as a class in the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation’s Certificate of Specialized Training Program. It is a required course for the Federation of Fire Chaplains’ advanced (master) certification, and can be applied towards the International Conference of Police Chaplains’ senior and master chaplain certifications. It is not a substitute for Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) training.
The Pastoral Crisis Intervention 1 Class costs $125. This includes two days of instruction and discussion, workbook, a certificate of completion from the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, and donuts & coffee plus lunch and snacks on both days.
Classes will be held on the upper floor of Hermitage Fire Department’s station 3 on the corner of Mercer
Avenue and Maple Drive in Hermitage (just a few miles north of Interstate 80 exit 4B). Parking is in the lot to the right of the station.
