as i was watching that I was thinking "why are they bothering? the roof has already vented itself!" thats a collapse situation waiting to happen and I agree with you guys. The chief (or chiefs) on scene should have interveined and never allowed them up there or called them off immediately. Hell, the guys should really know better!!! It will only become an issue when someone dies.....they they will say "what happened?!"

Come on guys, how did every single one of you miss this sooo badly. First off this is obvisously L.A. city or county, and second this fire did not vent itself.. Those are obvisously vent holes they have already cut.. so many ff because so many holes. looks to me like they are making one last hole and getting off. Also, notice the guy with the line isn't hitting the fire, which you would never do he's just keeping the fire from the vent holes off of them. This is how you don't burn the roof off of structures.

OOOOOOOOOOO i know i know. someone got some jiffy pop and put it on the roof and they were waiting for it to fill up. DUH.

dont understand why they were venting the roof where it was already through the roof and also they were not working from a roof ladder which i am all for. its much safer and they had way too many guys on the roof we use at most 4.

Don't we (The Fire Service) train any more? How did they get to be officers? Goes against everything I was taught? Even stuff when I first sratred in the early 70'S, this stuff is not new people, need to get back to the basics!

As a retired Captain & Safety Officer, I just had to spend a few minutes watching it over and over in disbelief. Obviously there was no such Safety Officer present; or somebody that might recognize an extreme in your face, possible roof collapse. I mean, all the firefighters that were around there, what were they thinking? That could have been one huge, deadly mistake.
