My department is look into purchasing stabilization struts for our rescue.  We are a suburban department.  We would need the struts for MVC stabilization.  I’m looking for any information on the various systems on the market.  What the pros and cons are, and likes and dislikes you have with the systems you use.

Thanks and stay safe,

We use the Rescue 42 Telecribbing struts and we really like them. We have the composite version on our front-line rescue unit and the older steel version on our reserve. We carry 4 long struts and 2 short struts per unit.

We've used them to support vehicles on their sides, to support a wood deck with a car underride, and in one case, to support a concrete header beam at a structure collapse.
We have Res-Q-Jacks. They are large and bulky, but in training they have worked very well. We had to do some rearranging to get them in a compartment. They'll go in and come out only one way because of the feet. So far we haven't needed them. That would be a good thing.
Have you check out the "NEW" strut system from Res-Q-Tec, you can use them for all types of stabilization problems. If you need more information, please let me know.. 860-234-6937 - cell
we use res-q-jacks as well. the coral gables kit . I like that all 3 have jacks so they are completely interchangeable. we used them a couple of times on scene and trained with them quite a bit. The kit is really nice and includes a LOT of stuff. I do wish they would have a way to use it as a bi-pod/gin pole. We have the man hole adapter plate but it only works in straight vertical.

The drawback is they are heavy, bulky and take up a lot of space (especially the whole kit)
We use the Paratech Vehicle Stabilization Struts. They are a new design of a proven product on the market and we absolutely LOVE THEM! They are light, strong, durable, but most importantly they are super simple to use.
Whatever manufacturer that you decide to go with, please research all the competitors and make them compete for your business. They all will come out for a demo if you ask. GOOD HUNTING!
We use the Rescue 42's and couldn't be happier. When we looked into buying struts a few years ago, we demo'd products from tons of companies. Genesis, Rescue 42, ResQJack, Paratech, Junkyard Dog, and some others. Hands down, the Rescue 42 was the best. It was very simple decision as to what brand we would go with.

I like that the Rescue 42's are large and easy to move/position, that the pins and attachments are large and easy to manipulate with gloves on, and that they actually extend a good bit. (Sounds like a stupid thing to like, but when we tried the Junkyard Dog struts, the short ones barely extended at all.) I have heard that Junkyard Dog has made some changes to their current product but I still wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy. After only a few minutes, we tossed them aside and didn't give them any further consideration.

The Paratechs are nice and I've got a decent bit of experience using their products for Collapse Rescue and Vehicle Stabilization, but with the versatility of the Rescue 42 and the ease of use, it was hard to justify the added expense for the Paratechs. They don't make a bad product and would have been purchased if not for the Rescue 42s.
