Firefighter Nation

HOLLYWOOD - Last night, while Hollywood's top picks paraded down the red carpet before the Oscar ceremony, one notable piece of attire caught the attention of the media.

NBC Los Angeles reported that actor Jack McGee, himself a former firefighter in New York City, wore a black strip over his firefighter's badge at the Academy Awards. McGee was paying tribute to Los Angeles firefighter Glenn Allen, who died from injuries during a fire and collapse at a Hollywood Hills home.

Weeks before Allen had responded to McGee's wife, Stephanie, who was injured during a hike. McGee said his wife had fallen and injured her wrist and hip.  McGee said he remembered that Allen was there and that he told him to "let the paramedics do their job."
