good question , basically you swap houses with the exchangie so there is very low accomodation costs which would be the biggest cost , depending on your department like here in nz you still get paid by them , it is designed so that all parties pretty much swap their lives and houses and such to experience a different departments firefighting styles and life . im just starting to get really into this so am finding things out as i get more info on my end , thanks for the question
Try to ask country fire agencies, because most firefighters in Europe are a part of some state agencies. For paid firefighters it is a bureaucratic hell if they want to organize something by their own. With volunteers things are a litlle bit easier.
Things are not easy as they seem, there's a lot of paperwork ,calling, visas, insurance etc.
If you find some organization to give you a backup it would be much easier for you!
I wish you the best!
thanks for that , it is not the easiest thing to do , I appriecate any advice
thats part of the reason for the exchange though to learn different methods and experience a different firefighting life
hey Rod, if your still looking my department in Ontario Canada does exchanges, and im very interested, let me know. Thanks
Tim
