Update 3/24/08 -- In addition to topping 16,000 full members over the weekend, we rolled out a whole new slab of features and improved, including (but not limited to):

- Member Profiles: We've adjusted the placement of items on profiles pages to use available space much more effectively, and we'll be offering even more flexibility on the layout of this page in upcoming releases (You'll be able to put just about any component anywhere, very soon). Plus, this release will feature new profile themes for you to choose from!
- Members Section: Browse the latest and most popular members with an improved Members page.
- Photos: Improved presentation and larger thumbnails on the photos page. Individual photo pages feature larger photos, improved comments posting and a user friendly style of the page.
- Photo Albums: Easier searching, browsing and display of of member-created photo albums.
- Videos: Browse more videos even easier with an improved videos page, and video detail page. You'll be able to find search and browse videos much easier! Plus larger videos if you upload a high-definition video.
- Groups: Massive improvements here. Browse and search groups much easier. The groups page is also vastly improved, with Group Admins now having the ability to add RSS to the group page, group comment wall, control over who can send messages to the entire group. Be sure to check out some great discussions going on among our nearly 800 groups!
- Forums: We've also spruced up Forum discussion pages. Here's the new design, featuring a new header style, smaller attachment icons and a more streamlined layout. More changes coming to the Forums in upcoming releases.
- Blogs: Entries will now have a ton of breathing room and a new comment format. Plus an entirely new blog listing page, so you can quickly access all the latest and featured blogs in one place.
- Also: We've also added a file upload button to our new text editor and a new more appropriate default icon to replace the 'ghost' image for members who don't have a profile photo.
- And More: A new theme for the FFN home page and some easier ways to quickly access your favorite content. Look for even more changes in the coming weeks and months

I have found that, like myself, there are many retired firefighter members on this site.
I am hoping that the new profile page will be a little more user friendly for us, i.e. at present many of the questions become ambiguous or don't allow for the fact that one is an ex- firefighter.

Just bumping this up a bit .. these new features will go live on Friday or Saturday
PLUS, on the Member, Groups, Photo and Video main pages we'll been selecting specific content to be featured! Another new feature coming with the newest update!
