I have not seen this on here so lets try a new discussion. I started late in the field but if I could , I would love to be in the Denver area . Maybe Westminster or Thornton fire depatments would be good since I grew up there . I knew allot of the Westminster f.f. 's while I was young as a friends dad was on the dept . They always had a great dept. Where would you be and why?
My dept is a combination and I would love to get on carrer there when they open it up again in Ft. Lupton,CO; Otherwise, I think any of the local metro ones would be great, i.e. Denver, North Metro, or Aurora. I do think that some of the ski resort departments would be fun as well. Overall, since I am trying to work my way to a career possition any paid Dept. would be great.
I don't see myself anywhere but where I am now... I love being on the MS Gulf Coast, I love working for the Jackson County Fire District, I love my coworkers, and I have the best dad-gum chief I've ever had the honor of working for. I'd like to think I'll do my whole 25 years here, but should something happen and things change I believe I'd try a few close to home.
Biloxi FD - Biloxi, MS - Free health benefits for you, spouse, & dependants... It'd be hard to turn that down seeing as what I would have to pay now lol
Some others I think I'd might enjoy working at...
Fort Walton Beach FD in Florida
Destin Fire Control District - FL again
Gatlinburg/Piegeon Forge Area in TN
Dekalb County/City of Atlanta
I would go back to the Bay District VFD in St. Mary's County, MD.... I have never had so much fun and learned so much about fire fighting than in the State Of Maryland. I truly miss it there...
Really my answer to this question is it doesn't matter because we are all brothers and every fire department is filled with brave man and women who set out to do the same thing i would: save lives. I am happy where I'm at. I would be happy anywhere as long as there is good people there with me. Which come on every Fire Dept. is filled with good people.

LOS ANGELES ANYBODY??????????
REALLY??????
WOW, ok that surprises me. I get why people would want to go to FDNY (i would love too)
but not LAFD or LAco.FD?
300 days of sunshine, the beach, the non-top living of a big city, but still have the
close-knitt communities of Culver City, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills.
This surprises me.
I mean, you can be working downtown and get moved up to FS63 on Venice/Musle Beach for the day. Or you can get moved up to My station, in the hussle and bussle of West LA and be on the border of Beverly Hills and Hollywood, seeing movie stars and the night life of Los Angeles.
The life is fantasic for a any kind of firefighter. Work in hollywood and be up all night, or work in rancho park and get 5 calls the whole day, or work at Fire Station 9 on skid row, and be apart of THE BUISSIEST FIRE STATION IN THE NATION. Or work at 96's and get at least 1 fire related call every day.No matter what you like, there is a fire station that fits who each person is.
This surprises me.
If i had to choose, it would be 1) Los Angeles CITY Fire Department (LAFD) 2) Los Angeles County Fire Department (LAco.FD) 3) FDNY 4)Beverly Hills FD (they make so much money for doing nothing all day) 5) Scottsdale/Pheniox Metro Fire Department
