This incident happened Sunday on Highway 62 near Paden, Oklahoma. A trooper with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol pulled over a Creek Nation ambulance as it was heading to the hospital with a patient. TV station KWTV-TV broke this story.

KWTV-TV's Dave Jordan reports there is also dash cam video that apparently includes the alleged assault by the paramedic. That video has not been released.

Some comments from Chief Billy Goldfeder in The Secret List (including Billy's video response to the incident)

STATter911.com has been in contact with the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Health System, the operators of the ambulance. Spokesman Thompson Gouge says the matter is under investigation. He could not confirm the current status of the EMS crew, but on Wednesday evening passed along the statements of Critical Care Paramedic Maurice White Jr, who was treating the patient, and EMT-B Paul Franks, who was driving the unit. Some details earlier today from our sister station WFMY-TV's website:

A scuffle between first responders in Oklahoma is caught on tape. Highway Patrol troopers and a paramedic nearly come to blows while a patient waits to be taken to the hospital. The encounter was caught on a cell phone came by Kenyada Davis, the son of the patient in the ambulance.

The incident started when the ambulance failed to yield to state troopers en route to a call. Davis say the ambulance driver was trying to avoid hitting a car that slowed down and wasn't aware that troopers were nearby until it was too late

After the troopers finished their official business, they pulled the ambulance over. A struggle ensued as they tried to arrest the driver.

According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the paramedics assaulted the trooper just before the fight broke out.

The Okfuskee County District Attorney's office is reviewing footage and could file criminal charges against the paramedic by the end of the week.

lol Chele are you out causin trouble again????
Okay,

Someone said "let's start from the begining" - Why was she going to the Hospital? Then you go from there. I've been there. No excuses for what we saw,

But why?
I thought I read that the patient was suffering heat exhaustion, but I don't remember where I read it.
AH! Here it is:
"Kenyada Davis' mother was the woman in the back of the ambulance being treated for heat exhaustion." It's in the link provided at the top of this topic.
he has no legal right to enter an ambulance for any reason the emt-p has to protect the paitient at all times until release of care been there just like that the charges against emt-p will not stand in court...
No one had any donuts to distract them with. Bad cop, no donut!
I think its pretty convienent how the officers state that the paramedics started the assault yet we see no action like that on the video nor will they PD release the dash-cam video from their cruiser. Damn I hate cops
Oh, there are so many things to comment on....
1. From that video it appears that the assaulting was all done by the trooper. The officer was verbally and physically abusive to the medic, who has every right to protect his own person from assault. According to the reports the medic informed the officer that he (the officer) was commiting a crime.
2. If the cruiser was approaching at such a high rate of speed the officer should realize that the response/reaction time of any vehicle he approaches will seem as failure to yield.
3. One can only pull over when it is safe and reasonable to do so. If the operator of the ambulance was concerned with the vehicle ahead of him and was operating in the best interest of the ambulance/staff and pt. and pulled aside when the medic in the back informed him of the cruisers presence than that was safe and reasonable. Yes we all want to see the vehicles ahead of us yield the second that we see them but that is not always possible or safe.....and don't get me started on the ones that just stop in the middle of the road!
4. When watching the video I wonder why the other troopers didn't step in and take over the scene since this trooper no longer seemed to be in control of the scene or himself! Makes me question if the trooper has a history of being aggresive not just to civilians but to other troopers...bullies bully everywhere!
5. As to the question of pt. care, the rule is THE SAFETY OF YOU AND YOUR CREW FIRST...ALL OTHERS SECOND how anyone could not think that there was a crew safety issue here is beyond me. If one person left the rig to because they thought that the SP unit had a medical emergency that still leaves the other crew member with the pt., unfortunately the other member was ordered out by the officer and considering how angry he was and had a gun I wouldn't argue with him.
6. To everyone saying that the ambulance crew should have "killed them with kindness" or talked nicely with the officer....
7. I hope that the DA reviews the evidence, not just this video but the dash cam and eyewitness interviews and acts in a rational manner, does not press charges against EMS and provides a way for that officer to get the anger management treatment he so obviouly needs.
8. The officer and the SP need to issue an apology to the family and pt and to the crew involved.
9. We need to take some lessons from this.
a. Be courteous...always
b. Someone is always watching
c. There are many ways to resolve a problem, but anger isn't the best way.
d. Every story has many sides.
Now I've heard of medics doing excessive speed on way to hospital and the cops tailing them all the way there and waiting for care to transfer before issuing the citation, have the troopers ate too much red clay to understand how simple and proper this could have been.
RACISM!!!! PLEASE LETS NOT EVEN BRING UP THAT CRAP but the other stuff is possible
All this B.S. because the trooper thought he saw the medic flip him "the bird"? Last time I checked, that was not illegal. Hopefully when this is over that trooper won't be able to get a job cleaning toilets in a police station! What a jacka$$! And you can tell him I said that!
I can not agree with any kind of excuse for racism, as i teach my boy a turd comes in many different colors, shapes, and sizes but it's still a turd. So saying that, an American (or any nationality) is still a citizen no matter the color, I have German, English, and Sioux Indian blood running through my veins, and my father could intermix with Mexicans and no one would Know the difference so there is no reason why someone would have reason to come after me for something that happened to their ancestors. I have been accused of racism for doing my job before. I used to do security in a all black neighborhood and almost every time i pulled someone over they would say that it was because they were black and had nothing to do with the fact that they were driving down the road w/o their lights on at 2 am. So please do not ever jump straight to racism.
