Cadets

What dose everyone think about having cadets on their department on my department are cadets are from the age of 13 to 18

Cadets I feel would fall under the same category as Jr. Firefighters

Glad to have them the more we have the less B.S. work for me plus im getting old lol need new blood to teach and train so the will be good ff.

We had a cadet program which is different then out JR program. JR's can go to fire school and ride the engine with the permission of the officer. Cadets have red helmets and gear and can only go to in district alarms such as field fires, fuel leaks. The rule is one cadets per engine but a couple of times I came up to the friehouse and find 8 red hats in the back. It was hard putting them all off because they were so eager.

The good thing is it gets them in early before they find some other interest....like girls.
