With the rise in arson fires , there is discussion in registering arsonist. What are your thoughts. Do you have a known arsonist in your area. What about the new firefighters that you hire. How many of you have had one on your department ? How did you catch them? We had 3 " Kids " that were caught from our department and a surrounding department a few years ago. Kind of embarrassing. What about the penalties ? Should they be stiffer . I say " Throw the book at them . Chime in and say your peace . And most importantly , Be safe .
ABSOLUTELY! I see no problem with them being registered, tagged, bagged and anything else they want. As far as Im concearned that should put GPS trackers or ankle alarms or whatever else they can to track these nasty bas****. Start a fire---GO TO JAIL. Someone dies in that fire___Death Row.
Actually in california according to the "special circumstances" statutes, if someone dies in a arson related fire. The arsonist may be given the death penalty.
I think that any convicted FELON should have to be on some kind of registry, not just the sex offenders. I think it's just as important to know that my new neighbor is a murderer the same as it is to know he's a child molestor. You have to tell an employer on a job app whether you're a convicted felon or not. Why can't the general public know as well? I know you can check out your local jail docket, but let's face it, most of them are a JOKE and only go back so far.
No; they should be registered like convicted arsonists.
They should at least be in the FBI data base.
There should be no plea bargain for arson, because then, a torch isn't a torch and arson gets a cute name like "criminal damage to property". Then the torch can go set more fires.
Arson is a serious crime, should always be a felony, juveniles who set fires should be enrolled in a certified intervention program to break the cycle and we need to stop thinking that it was "just a little fire".
Remember; America's Burning.
