ohio volunteer duties with out 36 hour class
hey whats up im a ohio volunteer fire fighter and im going through my 36 but yet my chief wont let me go to any calls. or anything i cant hold a pager or nothing does any one know if the department can do that or not please respond

Bid your time get all in an uproar does nothing but cause trouble, Being to anxious can get you seriously injured or killed.

in my dept. we were issued pagers and allowed to go on calls after we got put on. we had to go through 13 weeks of training before we got put on. once we were on we can go on calls but we are not allowed away from the trucks for a structure fire. we could go up and walk around the house once the fire was out but nothing more till we got our 36 cert.

36 whole hours of training? I'm sorry, but here the minimum is Firefighter II, and Candidates have to have completed module B (2/3 of the way through the course) in order to respond and run calls. Don't sweat it though, I'm sure you'll be allowed to run calls soon enough, for now just concentrate on learning all that you neeed to learn. Good luck Brother!

Well- You certainly wouldn't last here!! To ride- let's start with CPR, Bloodborne Pathogens, ICS 700, In House Suppression Training (24 hour class) No SCBA or interior work allowed with 24 hour class!. To respond and function on the fire ground add FF I (102 hours) and Haz Mat Ops. And that doesn't get you on the EMS side of things if that is where you want to go (since 80% or so of our calls are EMS in some fashion). If you really want to be in this service- SIT DOWN, SHUT UP, and LEARN!!!!! Quit your crying and get with the program.

hey whats up i thank every one for the comments even the ones that wasent nice its cool though im done with my 36 and what a rush im not sowning no body or the department iv learned alot since iv been in 36 but iv still got AOLT! to learn and im one of those people who set out to go abouve thier goals and beyond i would like to become a full time firemen some day iv got a great captin that took me under his wing and has open my eyes to alot of stuff .I do realize that what i said was not exactly as i intended it to be but i had no other way to word but just that way sorry guys for the trouble but dont look at meas a winer cause im not iv learned the hard since day one i look up to every one on this site even if i dont know any of you because your not just humans your heros that put there life on the line every day and i look up to that cause the shows courage and bravery. and the thing with the not replying back i didnt know how to cause like i said im new to this whole thing so once again sorry for all the trouble and i understand now thank you
