Still without power here in Ohio
While I am at work today my home and everywhere else sits without power. We had the equivilant of a Cat 1 hurricaine come thru between 1200hrs and 1930 hrs yesterday and by 1500 hrs power was out to 95% of the county and surrounding counties. This has been worse than any Ice storm I have seen around here. Winds in excess of 70+ mph to an area that is not set up for this is really bad news. Hopefully will get power back in next couple days. Had to come to work to get some sleep and hot shower! lol. The good news is there is plenty of firewood all over the place!!!!

We have people still with out power today and they are saying it might be on inthree or four days . Some of them just got it back from gustaf sat morning only to loose it sat night .

It was a disaster yesterday I left for the station on our 1st tone out yesterday for a structure fire, it was one of the towns substations that burned up some. I didn't make that call but the truck I made we ended up driving around town on 10-15 details for wires down, trees down, signs down. Keep in mind we were one of 3 trucks and 2 support units for our dept. When we got a fire alarm for one of our nursing homes it was a maze of closed streets. At least we didn't get a squad call to the multistory nursing home. Our station never lost power but the rest of town did. We lost both of our substations due to some fire damage so that really hurt. About 6am I got power back at home but I am literally the last house on my street with power, the one next door and all the rest are still out of power.

i fully understand what your going through . my son and brother both firefighter/emts from southwestern ohio are out of power too. we was down near greenville when it hit and the wind was wicked. we live in nothwestern ohio we got mostly rain( much needed rain) 4 inches. best wishes to you and your fellow firefighters.

I know what your going through bro. Hurricane Fay came through parts of Florida, and some of us from our station was out all day and night Friday and Saturday cutting and pulling trees out of road for EMS and other emergency vehicles.

New York also got hit hard .. sad part is they sent alot of crews to Texas sooooooo a few days without light s for some... We had a couple of fires due to nimo being turned on and off and wires against people homes... alot of trees on homes and cars... It was a rough night and a long day.. So far the good news is no one died....

We had the same thing in Tn. I was without power all day sunday and monday morning. The bad thing about it here is that we are having a drought and a guy from the highway dept said that makes tree roots shrink and easier to fall. That equals BIG oak trees down every where big healthy oak trees do a number on chains. Stay safe.

Trees and wires down every where here in my corner of Ohio. They told us that it could be up to two weeks before we get power since they sent most of their crews south to help out down there. Should be a LONG two weeks

Update!! My neighbor informed me today, that at about 2230 hrs last night, power was restored to the "hood." I was not there to see it, but the lights came on in my house. So I guess I will be able to go home in the morning when I get off shift. Thank God for that. Unfortunately still 10000+ people without power in the area.

Things are better in our area,but the damage down by the water front as far as summer people go.. their boats are in their back yard of two to three house down back yard..... .. I think everyone has lights now.. Just alot of tree clean up to do.......
