Vic this is what you are missing pic from down by my stand
Hey lieutenant,
Check what came up in my backyard the other day.
I won't see them when Hunting Season starts.

Don't worry I'll get him while your sleeping in your stand.......LOL
Seen a beautiful 5 x 5 running other smaller bucks off on my way back from a brush fire in the tanker in an open field. We stopped to watch the site, a tad early for this behavior, maybe an early rut this year??
our season started on the 1st of october. opening night i shot a 4pt. 11in wide only went 60 yards and collapsed
Was watching a couple of Doe's when a 55 lb coyote came running up to my stand. He's not running any more!
I'm not cool enough to be able to hunt deer until November, however I shot 2 beautiful pheasants yesterday. 2 cockbirds flew in opposite directions, 2 wing shots, and 2 in the freezer!!!
there isnt anything like a good pheasant soup or a grilled bird! I understand how the wife feels, sometimes I almost feel like ending it all early, but I know I would bore myself to death after I limited out on does. Gotta keep the tags and hope for a monster to walk by. (not likely to happen)

GOT TO LOVE SOUTH CAROLINA DEER SEASON STARTS IN AUG AND RUNS TILL JANUARY. ANYWAY Got another one tonight this time it was a 8 point with 19.5" inside spread and 130 lbs

Finally I see a deer. I was walking out of the woods disgusted at another afternoon of no deer. Been in the woods a lot and hadn't seen a damn thing all season. While walking out of the sand bank I noticed a brand new rub on a tree (picture will be there tomorrow). Upon further investigation (and taking camera phone picture) I noticed for a pine tree the sap hadn't even come to the surface. (It's brand new!!!!) So I backpedal out of the woods, and go down the trail. About 50 yards away I cut back into the woods for a little still hunting in case the buck is still there. 5 minutes of light left, and here he comes. Beautiful 9 pointer walking across from me without a worry in the world. It's in the scope, he's dead to rights, can taste the venison already, he's about 20 feet away now, still doesn't see me, walking broadside I pull the gun tighter to the shoulder, take a nice deep breath and squeeze the trigger. Nothing happens. I squeeze again, nothing. The buck is still walking away!!! I look down from the scope, and the safety is on. I click the safety off, but he's in the brush and I can't see whats behind him. First deer of the season, and a great story to go with it.

Moral of the story.....

When you know you have a potential buck real closeby, TURN THE DAMN SAFETY OFF!!!
