ya at my station we have a set of the old hurst. they will cut anything but they are so big and heavy to pack around. But our other stations have T.N.T and i thank that i would rather have the hurst tools
We use holmatro(2 cutters, 2 spreaders, 3 combitools, 4 rams and 5 power units) and have not had a problem with them not cutting anything( as a general rule we do not cut nader pin is easier to push door off pin or use air chisel to cut out the pin) Have helped with rescue classes using hurst and have no problem with them other than the weight.
Are Department just purchased TNT tools. What a bunch of JUNK!!!!! No power, leaks, bad service and just a bunch of JUNK. We mainly used THE BOSS and Amkus. But a Deputy Chief went with the CHEAPEST they could go with. My advise is to stay away from TNT and go with something ELSE.
We use Hurst at Torrington Volunteer Fire Dept. but I've worked with TNT and Phoenix tools and they all are nice. The only complaints I have with hurst is they're so heavy and a little slow but real dependable!!!!
My department uses AMKUS which is a great tool. As a volly, we used Genesis and Hurst. The hurst combo tool was my favorite because you could cut and spread without having to change tools and most of the extrications we went to, the combo was suffcient power for spreading and cutting.
