BLEVE - Prevention and Response: Part Two of Two
An educational video produced for emergency first responders by Transport Canada in cooperation with the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs.
BLEVE is an acronym for Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapour Explosion.
the explosion takes place in three stages: 1 - decompression due to a rupture of the envelope, 2 - violent boiling and recompression of the tank(sounds like a jet engine when venting), 3 - catastrophic rupture of the tank and formation of the gas cloud.
