The El Medio Fire Protection District is an autonomous Special District for the State of California providing high quality, cost effective fire, rescue and emergency medical services to businesses and residences of South Oroville. The District encompasses two square miles of urban and wild land area. On average, the District receives over 1,200 calls per year and is the second most active fire, rescue and emergency medical service district in Butte County.

With state budget cuts and reassessment of Butte County property taxes within the District, monies for necessary upkeep of the fire house has come to a halt. To compensate for the loss of revenue, El Medio Fire Protection District is planning a large fundraiser to help cover the cost of a new roof and replacement cost for a central air and heating unit for the station. We are seeking donations for the “Raise The Roof” BBQ Dinner & Concert Fundraiser in order to reach our goal of $20,000 needed for the firehouse roof and A/C unit.

The “Raise The Roof” BBQ dinner & concert fundraiser will be on November 6, 2010 at El Medio Fire Station in Oroville, California. The local country group “Inside-Strait” will be performing after the BBQ dinner. If you wish to attend the event, tickets are available to purchase at the cost of $35 a person. Contact the fire department for tickets or email the contact below. If you choose to donate to the "Raise the Roof" Fundraiser a special account at Sierra Credit Union acct# 9007025-1 has been set up or send all monitary donations to El Medio Firefighters Assocation "Raise The Roof". Only with your generous help by fellow fire departments will El Medio be able to put a new roof on before the rainy season begins.
