I have taken 1.5 years of firefighting training at the national firefighting school in Guatemala. I have also taken some courses with the Red Cross (First Aid, National Emergency Team).
About Me:
I volunteer at the Guatemalan Red Cross delegation in prevention and a volunteer firefighter at CVB. I love to be able to work in my country, because I can see how great the need is. I would like to meet and chat with firefighters from anywhere in the world.
Day Job:
High School Teacher
Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I was sick of feeling useless. Also this is the way I thank life for all the opportunities I have been given.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
I am helping my country and serving God.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Here in Guatemala of course it is the lack of personnel and resources. I have actually seen SCBA equipment from the 80's being used in some companies. I hope to form liasons and maybe reduce this a little. The men and women who work here are extremely dedicated and I am very proud to serve with them.
