Back in 1998 when I applied to be apart of the Terry Volunteer Fire Department, there was a question on the application that said, "Why do you want to be a volunteer fireman?" I answered it "to help people in my community." My answer should have been, I want to have a red light, drive fast, and look cool!
A volunteer is someone who serves in a community primarily because they choose to do so. By definition, a volunteer does not get paid or receive compensation for services…
