Pumper Trucks and Truck Colors

Why do all Pumper Trucks seem to be Red? The rest of the trucks seem to be white. Why?

Yellow? Have we bought a new truck while I've been gone to school?

There is only one color that specifically is connected to fire engine- "Red"
never heard of fire engine white, blue, green, or worse yet Yellow. Only Yellow I have heard of is School bus Yellow (Short Bus)

I don't know why that is. I know here in West Virgina all truck no matter the type are red. I would like to see them black or some other color. I mean white is an ok color but I wouldn't want to have it as a fire truck.
