I am sitting in the lobby of the Indiana Convention Center.
This is whacker paradise. Tables and tables of STUFF.
People are carrying bags brimming over full.
I will be reporting in periodically.
Got the wireless laptop.
I haven't seen the FFN/FR team yet, but I will.
I am incognito today. Bet they don't recognize me.
I like that.
Hope I brought enough money.
Just got a call from my buddy Tiger.
We are going to meet within minutes.
I am giddy.
Talk to you all later.

Art, Have fun bro!!! I know you will.
Art, have fun for me bro. Would be cool to be there and see it all.
Have fun Bro, be safe in your travels
Was down there yesterday just for the day. Didn't get a chance to see it all or make it to the FFN booth. Hopefully next year I'll have more time and can meet up with some of you.

John
Art,

It was great to meet you, Tiger, Chris and the others. We had a great time at the Alcatraz, and I think we did a lot to spread the message about FirefighterNation.com. There's nothing like a free T-shirt to get people's attention! I'm looking forward to working with all of you more, and I'll be posting a few FDIC-related blogs myself!

Yeah; I got home at 1:00 am this morning. I left everything in the car until I got up and shook around.
Took care of all of that and then I went to play golf.
It was a real treat last night to be with everyone from Elsevier/FFN/FireRescue. It was a real pleasure to meet Jeff Berend. I have a new found respect for Chris, because I CANNOT stand olives in any form!
The hospitality shown to me was very much appreciated.
Tim; I did NOT have to use the jug on the way home.
I got to meet Homer Robertson of Quick Drills fame. I have been reading his articles for a long time and enjoy them immensely.
I got to meet John Tippett, Jr. and Amy Hultman from the IAFC National Near-Miss Reporting System.
You can hear and feel their passion when they talk about their programs. John has captured my deepest respect for accepting the Deputy Chief's position at Charleston. I wish him well.
To Jarret and Joe; sorry, but Matt was the only sane one from your group. Duck Pizza? That's just daffy.
Jarret; I didn't say anything, but while listening to you at dinner, I was struck by your youth and how much passion you have. You are a bright star.
I got to meet Professor Mike "FossilMedic" Ward in person. That was too cool. There was about a two second delay when Dave introduced us and then we both had big smiles on our faces as we shook hands and hugged. Yeah; you hug people that you admire and have great respect for. Mike; who initiated...doesn't matter. But it just goes to prove that you can have opposing views sometimes and still respect each other. It was a great feeling meeting everyone in person.
Then, there was Kent "Aussie Fire". What a treat. Chris Naum and I sat and listened to Kent tell his stories of "how we do it over there". He's a very sharp guy and funny, too.
I also had the privilege of meeting Captain Brian Yox of Mesa FD. I also got to meet Captain Rich Bliven of Louisville and his crew.
I would recommend the blackened swordfish at Harry and Izzi's. The shrimp cocktail is fantastic.
Alcatraz Brewing Company was the perfect setting for our get together. Saw lots of FireRescue/FFN T-shirts. They gave a thousand of them away. Lots of people hit the booth.
To Tim, Shannon, Cindy and Diane: it was my greatest pleasure to meet you. I look forward to sharing our thoughts through the website, but it doesn't stand up to seeing you and talking with you in a casual setting.
Till next time.

For those interested, I have posted a few photos from FDIC on my page.
My camera went dead when I got to Lucas Oil Stadium on Friday.
That's why I don't have any from our gathering at Alcatraz.
But I know that there were several photos taken.

Go get some chili down the street.. it's fantastic. Can't think of the name of the place.
Was it Harry and Izzi's?
Or the one next to it?

Sorry I missed meeting you Art,however I did run into an old friend,Chris Naum and we also hugged, as we've known each other for years and I respect his opinions and abilities. Maybe next year I'll be able to spend more time at FDIC........TCSS Harry
I couldn't make it this year, Art. I'll have to live vicariously through your posts! Stay safe!

Yeah; Chris and I became fast friends.
He's a good man, for sure.
