I had planned on going to school for nursing or being a doctor, but an unexpected life situation led me to EMS. After being on the ambulance for 5 years, I decided that I might like the firefighting side of things. So I joined our volunteer fire department. I had already been the EMS Chief prior to joining the fire side. After my first structure fire, I was hooked. My husband is also a volunteeer on our fire department and it is a race to the door when the pager goes off! My current occupation is as a dispatcher for one of local Emergency Helicopters (Lifeline), Lifeline Ambulance Service, and North Park Fire Department. I still run on the ambo every once in awhile to keep my skills up.
