About Me:
I've been involved with the Emergency Services for about 18 years now between NJ & PA, just completed Firefighter II certification. I actually should be dead for the actions I have taken in a fire. They were not the smartest thing I did. Now, I still fight aggressively, but with more knowledge of my surroundings & the telltale signs of problems. I will never put or ask anyone to go into a situation that I wouldn't do.
When I was about 2 years old, I had to have my eyes operated on to strengthen the muscles. When I returned home from the hospital, my cousin who was a career firefighter with PAFD drove the brand new Snorkel 1 to my house for me to see. That put the spark in me. When my father was diagnosed with cancer 20 years ago, I wanted to do all I could for him. I first joined a rescue squad, then a second one & eventually joined the fire department. Since then, I have dedicated my life to saving others.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
being in the right place at the right time to help someone who needs it.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
recruiting & retaining serious volunteers. I also believe that alcohol does not have a place in the station nor on scene. We all like to party & have a good time, but why put yourself or someone else in harm's way while under the influence. let's use some common sense out there!
